When you choose Galloways for your print, you are joining an international programme to protect, preserve, and restore threatened ecosystems. Supported by Sir David Attenborough, Chris Packham, and Steve Backshall, it’s a programme you’re in good company with, ourselves included.

At Galloways, we are proud of our reputation for exceptional quality print, and excellent customer service. Our five-generation family-owned business, and the 150 years of experience we offer makes us so proud.

The UK has just a handful of certified Carbon Balanced Printers. We are one of them.  This is thanks to our support of the World Land Trust, the international conservation charity.

Ahead of the curve

In June 2019, the UK government committed to reduce the UK’s net emissions of greenhouse gases by 100%, relative to 1990 levels, by 2050.  A 2019 YouGov poll stated that half of UK businesses aim to be carbon neutral by 2030. These are ambitious targets indeed.

The largest of UK businesses measure and formally report their carbon emissions. These big companies measure their emissions only due to legal requirement. Unfortunately, by law, it’s ONLY the largest businesses. Legislation changing this is to include smaller businesses, is likely to happen within the next few years.

Galloways is already there.

We are proud to be one of only 24% of UK businesses actively measuring average carbon emissions. This being from measuring****** emissions from transportation and business travel, electricity consumption, fossil fuel use etc. We go further, by offsetting – balancing – the impacts through our partnership with the World Land Trust.

World Land Trust

In 2005, World Land Trust established its Carbon Balanced Programme. It’s an initiative that provides individuals and organisations with an effective method of fighting climate change and lowering their carbon impact.

Carbon balancing is when the carbon impacts of a product or service are estimated, and an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide is either prevented from being released into the atmosphere, or is absorbed from it.

World Land Trust works with partner organisations and local communities to protect and preserve threatened forests and habitats – more than 2 million acres in 20 countries, including the UK – avoiding the release of stored carbon dioxide from the trees and plants that would have otherwise been destroyed.

Galloways is balancing the equivalent of 207 tonnes of carbon dioxide, enabling World Land Trust to protect and restore 39,537 square metres of threatened tropical habitat in Ecuador, Mexico, and Vietnam. We’ve even got a certificate to prove it.
